Introduced in 1991, X-102 is Xaloy's new generation of general-purpose bimetallic barrels. The graphs show that X-102 provides much greater resistance to corrosion and abrasive wear than the previous generation, i.e. X-101 and generic substitutes from other suppliers.
X-102 is a chromium-modified boron-iron alloy containing 5 to 7% nickel. The nickel content of X-102 is about 70% higher than that of X-101 and the generic substitutes.
Wear tests show X-102 to have 20% better abrasion resistance and have 5 times the corrosion resistance of X-101.
There is no equivalent for the patented X-102. Patents have been applied for on its composition and metallurgical structure.
