Beringer Water Ring Pelletizing Systems offer a modern, economical and trouble-free method of pelletizing a wide range of thermoplastic materials. Major polymers include LDPE, HDPE, Polystyrene ABS and Polypropylene. Many other materials, including a number of engineering thermoplastics, along with filled and reinforced compounds can also be pelletized.
- Hot die face cutting makes process insensitive to polymer flow interruptions
- Immediate quenching of pellets without agglomeration
- Lower operating costs
- Lower maintenance costs
- Less space requirements
When compared to other die face cutting processes such as underwater pelletizing, the Beringer Water Ring Pelletizing System offers the following advantages:
- Lower Energy Consumption
- Easier Startup
- Insensitive to Process Variations
- More Economical
Molten polymer from an extruder, melt pump or other pressure generating processor, is fed into the die head. Once inside, the material is evenly distributed to and passed through an annular die plate hole pattern. A rotating knife cuts the hot material as it exits the die hole and casts the pellets into a ring of cooling water. The pellet slurry is then fed from the cooling chamber through a trough or underwater conveying system to a high speed impact dryer, where the water is effectively separated from the pellet production. The water is fed back to a recirculating tank and the dry pellets are discharged to a suitable conveying system or container.
Common applications include reclaim, compounding and masterbatch processing.
PROCESS SCHEMATIC, WRP-12V:
To demonstrate the ease of operating the Water Ring Pelletizer, Beringer maintains a process laboratory equipped with an extruder, screen changer and WRP 12V Pelletizer. Customers are encouraged to visit the Beringer lab for a demonstration of the WRP on their own materials.
