Case Study: Vortex® 2-Way Wye Line Diverter Handling Polymer Pellets

Source: Vortex Valves

This US based division of an international company manufactures an extremely abrasive polymer pellet. Plant management learned, from a sister UK facility, that component parts used to transfer product must be able to withstand the product's abrasiveness.

The company compounds virgin polymer, powders, color, UV inhibitors and chopped fiberglass to create a polymer pellet that contains up to 50% fiberglass. Compounded pellets are sold to molders that manufacture plastic parts for the automotive industry.

The ceramic backed Vortex® diverter handles 5,000 pounds of product per hour, 24 hours a day, six days a week. Its success has lead to additional sales of Vortex® slide gates and diverter valves within the facility.
