Seminars For Engineers Increases Offerings For Its Web Handling And Converting Related Seminars

Seminars for Engineers is showing its commitment to its mission of advancing knowledge in engineering by adding new seminars in Web Handling and Converting and expanding the breadth of its established seminars this year. Seminars are being held at a variety of regional locations in the US, internationally in Germany, and can also be held onsite in-house at a company's request.

The seminars encourage participant interaction and are taught by industry experts who discuss practical problem solving techniques and the most up-to-date information available. Students learn how to improve quality, reduce waste, and increase productivity to maintain and enhance competitive advantage. Anyone working with web machinery will benefit from these unique courses, including product and process designers, process engineers, quality, sales/service, maintenance and lead operators.

Information about these and other seminars is available at www.SeminarsForEngineers.com, by emailing info@SeminarsForEngineers.com, or by phoning 1.877.755.2272 (USA and Canada) or 1.973.560.9092. The seminar list follows:

PRINCIPLES OF WEB HANDLING
Principles of Web Handling gives the fundamentals and process know-how needed to handle any web handling issue. From exploring the theoretical to understanding practical applications, you will be able to diagnose and treat existing problems and also accurately identify the specifications needed for new webs. You will learn about the critical areas of tension control, web tracking, roller choices and their effects, machine alignment and web defects such as roping, telescoping, and staring. This seminar will address these topics on various levels, from providing basics and rules to remember to examining some of the intricate physics of their behavior. Though theory is included, emphasis is placed on practical problem solving techniques for the plant engineer.

  • Frankfurt, Germany — April 7–8
  • Charleston, SC — June 17-18
  • Raleigh, NC — September 16-17
  • PRINCIPLES OF FLEXIBLE WEB SLITTING
Principles of Flexible Web Slitting is a comprehensive examination of the various factors that must be addressed when slitting flexible web materials. The phrase "flexible web materials" includes more than the common paper, film and foil products – it also includes increasingly complex laminates, coated products and technical materials such as composites, exotic thin films, textiles, light metals, and electronic and medical products, to name just a few. Any material that can be wound on a core is considered a flexible web. The seminar's major emphasis is on the more demanding process of shear slitting, but also includes comprehensive information on razor slitting and crush (score) slitting. Also discussed are high pressure water jet slitting, laser slitting, ultrasonic slitting and rotary die slitting as alternate methods where appropriate. Rather than using mathematical models and complex theory, the course emphasizes practical problem solving techniques which are easily applied by the plant engineer.

  • Charlotte, NC — April 29-30
  • Chicago, IL — December 9-10
  • WEB COATING & DRYING
Web Coating & Drying is designed to further skills in selection and application of equipment for improving manufacturing processes and assuring efficient production of coated papers, films and other web substrates. Two major topics are featured: coating of webs by various means and, the drying or curing of these substrates. All major commercial coating processes used today are discussed along with their benefits for use in specific manufacturing applications, while considering the raw materials used to produce finished product. All major forms of convective and radiant methods of heat transfer for drying and/or curing are presented. Though theory is included, emphasis is placed on practical problem solving techniques for the plant engineer. This popular and informative course has been attended by hundreds of students.

  • Charlotte, NC — December 2-3
  • About Seminars For Engineers (USA)
Seminars For Engineers was founded in 2003. Focusing on specialized engineering topics, these two day technical courses are designed to disseminate the most current and comprehensive information available and provide practical problem solving techniques for a broad spectrum of manufacturing and R&D professionals. Topics ranging from Fastening Technology and Bolted Joint Design to Sealing Technology for Packaging Processes and the principles of Web Handling to Composite Materials Design, Testing & Fabrication are taught by the foremost authorities in their fields. For more information, visit www.SeminarsForEngineers.com.
