General Performance Oil and Heat Resistance
Replace polychloroprene rubber (CR), chlorosulphonated polyethylene rubber (CSM) and high-end EPDM rubber compounds across numerous market segments. Superior colorability, aesthetics and feel offer material replacement opportunities for value-added design and engineering flexibility.

Santoprene® thermoplastic rubber is a series of high-performance elastomers which combine the desirable characteristics of vulcanized rubber, such as flexibility and low compression set, with the processing ease of thermoplastics. Fitting into the mid-range cost and performance spectrum of both thermoplastic and thermoset rubbers, Santoprene rubber is accepted for a broad range of industrial and consumer product applications.

Its unique combination of material properties and processing ease permits the processor to achieve such critical goals as lower production costs, consistent quality and improved production performance. Santoprene rubber can be processed on standard thermoplastic equipment. It can be injection molded, extruded, blow molded and thermoformed with the efficiency and economy associated with thermoplastic materials. In addition, clean scrap from these operations can be reprocessed.

Santoprene rubber has the environmental resistance equivalent to general purpose EPDM rubber compounds, while fluid resistance is comparable to general purpose polychloroprene rubber compounds, a unique combination that lends itself to a broad range of applications. Its unmatched colorability, feel and aesthetics open new design opportunities in consumer applications.

  • Performance through heat and cold
Parts made from Santoprene rubber offer a constant service temperature range from -60° C to + 135° C (-81° F to +275° F) with no cracking or tackiness. Excellent heat aging combines with resistance to oil and grease for outstanding durability. Durability for the tough jobs Santoprene rubber has excellent resistance to cut growth while flexing, high tear strength and superior resistance to fatigue, and good resistance to many acids, bases and aqueous solutions.
  • Broad range of flexibility
Flexibility of Santoprene rubber ranges from supple, conformable 35 Shore A to tough, durable 50 Shore D. General purpose grades are suitable for most applications, and FDA-compliant, NSF-listed and medical grades are also available. Flame retardant grades meet Underwriters Laboratories requirements. These grades have UL 94 V-0 or UL 94 HB ratings.
  • New: foamed Santoprene rubber
New, closed-cell foaming technologies can give you the powerful advantages of specific gravity as low as 0.2 for close-tolerance parts that offer excellent conformability, without adding excess weight.
  • Easier design for complex parts
Design tolerances can be two to three times more precise than with EPDM or polychloroprene rubber. Design parts with thick or thin walls; simplify multi-part designs; eliminate metal inserts. Create dual-durometer parts from two hardness grades.
