High-speed testing machines are generally used for rigid plastics and at higher velocities, when drop weight testers would become very high or would have to be spring-loaded. The higher energy rate available at the impact point is a further advantage of high speed testing machines. With an application example, the instrumented puncture test for the determination of multiaxial impact behavior of rigid plastics according to ISO 6603-2 and ASTM D 3029 have to be mentioned.
