Our newest mold steel allows gas to escape through the steel but keeps the resin inside the mold. This process can eliminate short shots, shrinkage, gas burns, burrs and knit (weld) lines. Porcerax is available in two differ pore ( microscopic vent spaces) sizes: 7 micron and 3 micron. 7 micron is suitable for the most commonly used resins. 3 micron is suggested for most thermoset resins or when a finer finish is required. In large molds, small pieces of Porcerax can be strategically placed where venting is a problem--make sure proper design and installation guidelines are followed.
