RTP Company's long fiber compounds (LFC's) produce tough, yet lightweight injection molded parts.

These compounds dramatically increase impact strength over short fiber compounds - without sacrificing flexural modules as often happens when short fiber compounds are modified for impact.

They offer high load bearing capabilities and excellent strength-to-weight ratios.

LFC's are excellent replacements for metals, particularly in diecast parts where expensive or time-consuming secondary and finishing steps occur.

They can replace steel, zinc, magnesium, and other metals. They lower finished parts costs, reduce part weight, and improve corrosion resistance.

LFC's maintain their flexural modulus and tensile strength better than short-fiber compounds in virtually all temperatures.

In addition to improved structural properties, these compounds can be formulated for applications required color, EMI shielding and wear resistance.

Common applications for long fiber compounds include:

  • Automotive
    • Seats and seat components
    • Interior parts such as gear shifters, hardware, and steering components
    • Under-the-hood parts such as gears, pulleys, and supports
  • Sporting Goods
    • Boat parts such as propellors, mounts and accessories
    • Ski, skate, and snowboard bindings and components
    • Bicycle parts, racks, and accessories
    • Firearm components
  • Tools and hardware
    • Garden epuipment handles and components
    • Hand tool housings and components
  • Construction structural frameworks and components
RTP Company engineers will select a standard LFC that matches your criteria for performance, processing, molding characteristics.

Then, we'll put our reputation for problem solving to work - meeting your exacting demands for strength, wear, color, UV stability, chemical resistance, and other factors.
