LANXESS Moves Inorganic Pigment Blending Operations
Many factors contributed to the relocation decision. The lease agreement for operations at the Imperial site ended in January 2006, providing LANXESS with the opportunity to find a new site with a more optimal configuration for the blending operations of the business. LANXESS considered several new sites in the area and elsewhere.
The Starpointe location was chosen primarily due to its customization opportunities. While it is smaller in size than the previous location, this custom-built facility was specifically configured to fulfill LANXESS's blending needs, contributing to operational savings through optimum raw material flow and more efficient production. Additionally, LANXESS is able to retain its current workforce of 20 people due to the relative proximity of the new site to both the old site and the LANXESS Corporation headquarters building in Findlay Township.
"We're very pleased to be here at Starpointe," LANXESS Corporation President and CEO Randy Dearth said. "It offers numerous advantages to the business and allows the operation and its people to stay in western Pennsylvania."
