KBR Selected For Pre-FEED Study For Polyethylene Units At Petrochemical Complex By Egypt Hydrocarbon Corporation (EHC)

HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--KBR (NYSE:KBR) today announced that it has been awarded a contract by Egypt Hydrocarbon Corporation (EHC) to complete a pre-Front End Engineering Design (pre-FEED) study for two polyethylene units at its proposed Petrochemical Complex. The complex will be located 25 km (15.5 miles) from Suez, Egypt, near the Red Sea.

Under the pre-FEED study, KBR will perform PolyEthylene (PE) technology evaluation and licensor recommendation to EHC. Currently, two PE plants are planned for installation, with each plant having a nominal capacity of 450 kta. The plants will be targeted to produce a broad range of HDPE and LLDPE resins.

The award of the pre-FEED study follows KBR's completion of various prefeasibility studies for the Petrochemical Complex's proposed plants, including: ammonia, ammonium nitrate, naphtha cracker, polyethylene and methanol plants. KBR has also completed a master plot plan study for the complex.

"This award will allow KBR the opportunity to further demonstrate our unparalleled expertise in the downstream market," said John Quinn, President, KBR Downstream. "KBR is pleased to partner with EHC, building on the relationship forged during the prefeasibility studies for the Petrochemical Complex, and we look forward to successful project completion."
