NEW: ActiFlow™, a new alternative to other forms of mechanical hopper agitation:
When feeding cohesive or other difficult materials, intermittent or inconsistent flow through the feeder's hopper impairs performance and can even halt the process. The ActiFlow Smart Bulk Solids Activator reliably prevents bridge-building and ratholing of cohesive bulk materials in stainless steel hoppers, in loss-in-weight feeding applications, eliminating the need for mechanical vertical agitation.
ActiFlow is a non-product contact device, consisting of a vibratory drive and intelligent control unit. The ActiFlow device is bolted to the outside of the rear wall of the extension hopper, above the feeder, reducing headroom requirements. Together with the K-Tron Control Module (KCM) and ActiFlow Control unit, it continuously activates the material inside the hopper with an optimized frequency and amplitude based on changing material flow conditions.
K-Tron Premier ProBlend™ Zone Blender
K-Tron Premier introduces its ProBlend™ Zone Blender for blending or homogenizing free flowing bulk material within a hopper or silo. With its special geometric shape, the compact and simple Zone Blender provides multiple flow zones in which the material can pass through at different velocities and residence times. As a result, the discharged material contains a uniformed blend of material from the hopper or silo. The Zone Blender uses a combination of mass flow (first in – first out) with funnel flow (last in – last out) to help homogenize the blend and reduce the effect of segregation in re-circulating, batch or continuous systems, or any application requiring the blending of materials.
NEW: Continuous Gravimetric Extrusion Control Software
K-Tron's new extrusion control package offers the ability to control the extruder speed so that its output has a predictable and repeatable mass flow. By accurately measuring material throughput, gravimetric extrusion control can compensate for material and process variations and provide more consistent end product quality. It is primarily targeted for use with single screw flood fed extruders in both mono- and co-extrusion applications such as profile extrusion, cast sheet, blown film, cable coating and laminating.
Gravimetric extrusion control is virtually a necessity for multi-layer co-extrusion systems. Its benefits include exact control of end product quality, significant savings in material costs, highly accurate multi-layer co-extrusion of films, longer production runs due to consistent extruder output and the ability to detect problems before the product goes out of specification.
K-Tron Premier Filtair Series Filter Receiver
The Filtair Series Filter Receivers provides automatic material-from-air separation with filter bags that are cleaned by bursts of compressed air. The tangential inlet, located in the receiver's circular hopper, provides a cyclonic separation of the material/air stream. Airborne material is trapped by the filter bags. Timed, compressed-air pulses clean the filter bags, dropping the once airborne material into the hopper. The filter bags are protected from the material mainstream by a deflector shield.
Efficient performance of the filter receiver is achieved through the proper selection of filter media and the correct air-to-cloth ratio. Unit allows easy access to receiver's filter bags with control panel regulating the frequency and duration of each pulse with control panel displaying which row of bags is being cleaned.
Screw-less feeding for dosing free flowing color, masterbatch or additives into extruder
The K-Tron Micro-Cone Feeder features a highly innovative screw-less feeding mechanism to accurately dose free flowing color, masterbatch or additives into a blending system or directly into the process screw of an extruder. With no pockets or screws, the design is simple, providing ease of use and almost zero maintenance. The feeder housing swings open for fast material change. There are practically no areas for the product to trap so cleaning is very easy. Utilizing a simple induced flow rotating cone, the Micro Feeder is designed to dose down to a few granules at a time and up to 2 dm3/hr (122 in3/hr or .07 ft3/hr) of normal masterbatch. With use of an extension tip, the feeder can feed as low as 0.1 dm³. The minimum dispersive rate is > 2 pellets per second.
K-Tron Premier Aerolock™ Rotary Valves (HD, MD):
K-Tron Premier Aerolock™ rotary valves are backed by more than 45 years of experience-tested airlock design and application. K-Tron Premier is continually upgrading and refining airlocks, which now include more than 150 models and sizes. This broad scope and variety of Aerolock sizes and models enables K-Tron Premier to provide the most appropriate airlocks and rotary valves for applications in the food, plastics and chemical process industries.
Units on display include the Heavy-Duty (HD) and Maximum-Duty (MD) Aerolock, with the (HD) Aerolock designed for heavy-duty industrial service performing at up to 15 PSI pressure differential and temperatures up to 225° F. The (MD) Aerolock is engineered for heavy to severe industrial service with pressure differentials up to 20 PSI and temperatures of +450°.
Quick Change Feeder: Ideal for customized runs
K-Tron Quick Change/ Quick Clean T35/S60 Feeder: First designed with the needs of the Masterbatch industry in mind, this feeder allows the customer to quickly change from a single screw S60 screw configuration to a twin screw T35 screw configuration, as material needs change and is ideal for short customized runs. Unit is available in both volumetric and gravimetric models and is ideal for applications where only one feeder must feed a large variety of products, where a "super clean" execution is required and where product contamination is not allowed.
