IDM-260 is recommended for aggressively corrosive materials such as fluoropolymers.

IDM-260's superb resistance to chemical attack is a function of three factors:

  1. Nickel content is extremely high (>75%).
  2. The IDM-260 alloy is virtually devoid of free iron, thus eliminating the greatest point of vulnerability to chemical attack in bimetallic barrels. The remarkable speed of the Interfusion casting process is the reason. Alloy material is molten for mere seconds, which allows virtually no opportunity for free iron to migrate from the steel backing cylinder into the alloy.
  3. To further assure invulnerability to corrosion, all mating surfacs are clad in Inconel. Using a proprietary technique only possible with the Interfusion technology, IDM-260 barrels enjoy absolute protection against any leakage of resin or of hydrofluoric or other pernicious gases that could undermine the alloy lining.
IDM-260 also has excellent abrasion resistance due to the high level of chromium carbide precipitated during the casting process.
