Erie Plastics Celebrates 45 Years In Business
Erie, PA - In August of 1960, a small family business in Corry, Pa., created its first product: a railroad trestle for Marx Toy Company. Forty-five years and 125 billion parts later, Erie Plastics continues along its successful track as a growing and thriving manufacturer and innovator in custom injection molding.
This month marks the 45th anniversary of the founding of Erie Plastics, which has come a long way from its humble beginnings in a plant of 8,000 square feet with only two injection molding machines. Today, Erie Plastics has expanded to include facilities in Massachusetts and Hungary, and has located its main operations in a 465,000-square-foot state-of-the-art building in Corry for the past four years. Erie Plastics now produces 10 billion parts annually, and this year's annual sales are expected to reach $100 million.
P.C. "Hoop" Roche, chairman of Erie Plastics, has guided the company through much of the changes and growth that have occurred over the past 20-plus years as the C.E.O. "When my father co-founded this business, he never would have imagined that it would become a global company," said Roche. "Our expansion into Eastern Europe in 2000 was a natural response to a customer's request for local sourcing. Since then, it has given us a base to develop new business with other European clients."
