BASF Launches High-Clarity Elastollan TPU 1200 Series In North America

Polyether-based resins targeted for tubing, thick injection-molded part applications

Chicago, IL — BASF has announced the commercial introduction of the Elastollan 1200 series of polyether-based thermoplastic polyurethanes (TPU) to the North American market. Target applications for these resins include tubing and thick injection-molded parts.

The Elastollan TPU 1200 series are highly transparent and easy to process, especially compared to standard polyether resins, and can be extruded. Three grades currently constitute the Elastollan TPU 1200 series: 1254D (54 Shore D hardness), 1260D (60 Shore D hardness) and 1264D (64 Shore D hardness).

"We believe tubing manufacturers can differentiate themselves by selecting BASF's TPU 1200 series for their products," said Jeff DeGross, Business Development representative for BASF's Elastollan TPU business in North America. "It can withstand harsh elements, maintain its structural integrity and processes easily. BASF will continue to introduce new developments in TPUs that will help make our customers more successful."

BASF introduced Elastollan TPU 1200 series at NPE 2006 in Chicago (McCormick Place, South Hall – Booth 2903).
