Case Study: Vortex® Wye Line Diverter™ Handling Polyethylene Pellets
Vortex® 2-way Wye Line Diverter™ valves were installed in the spring of 1997. Hand wheel models were chosen for two reasons:
- The divert point was easily accessible at ground level, and
- Diversion between the molders would happen infrequently.
The project contractor chose Vortex® because of past application success and ability to modify valves for specific installations. Modifications in this application include PET pressure plates and electropolished blade due to the outdoor installation and clear bonnet covers for visual position indication.
The company has been extremely pleased with the valves' performance. They are considering an expansion in the near future and want to use pneumatically actuated Vortex® diverters to further automate the process.
