SR MATE SERIES

The SR Mate series of robots, which include the SR Mate 100i, SR Mate 100iH and SR Mate 200i, represent another innovative design in robotic technology. Developed specifically for the plastic injection mold industry (SR is an acronym for Shot Robot), the SR class of robots offer a four-, five- or six-axis solution for tending 50 ton to 300 ton injection molding machines.

The SR Mate series, a family of modular construction, rail-mounted, electric servo-driven robots, can be used for the following applications:

  • Injection molding machine tending, including FANUC Roboshot a-series
  • Machine tool tending (dry, chipless environment)
  • Material handling
  • Part transfer
  • Assembly
  • Testing and sampling
"The FANUC SR Mate series of robots represents a true innovation for the plastics industry," said Ian Orr, senior product and applications engineer, FANUC Robotics. "The combination of linear and rotary motion allows manufacturers to add valuable post-processing operations such as deflashing, palletizing, labeling or packing.

"The SR Mate series of robots is optimized for high-speed extraction of injection molding machines, with extraction times as fast as 3/4 seconds," said Orr. "This gives manufacturers a fast, reliable, and much more versatile alternative to conventional gantry-style unloaders."

SR Mate Series Benefits

  • Combines extended reach of a linear rail with wide range of motion and dexterity of an articulated robot arm.
  • Multi-axis dexterity reduces system content by replacing complex part handling equipment and grippers.
  • Increased fault tolerance with quick recovery.
  • Multi-axis dexterity allows for post-processing applications such as deburring, deflashing, labeling and packing.
  • Reduces floor space and ceiling requirements compared to gantry robots.
  • Ethernet communications to FANUC a-series Roboshot IMM allows SR Mate robot to be controlled from Roboshot operator panel.
  • The unique platen bracket is designed to attach directly to various FANUC Roboshot injection molding machine platens or can be easily adapted to fit other injection molding machine platens.
  • Can use FANUC SPI interface (hardware and software) to interface to other injection molding machines.
Mechanical Features

  • Four to six axes of motion (first axis linear)
  • 3-8kg payload capacity
  • Linear rail speeds of 1700mm/sec to 2000mm/sec
  • Linear rail travels of 1130mm to 1500mm
  • Articulated axis speeds from 240 to 480 degrees/sec
  • Based on proven, reliable standard FANUC Robotics products High Speed LR Mate 100i and M-6i.
