POLYSTRONG™ and POLYLAST™ offer corrosion-resistant, sturdy material selections for air and water treatment equipment, with numerous industrial and municipal applications.

Forest City, NC (PRWEB) - KCH Engineered Systems, a leading innovator in air and water treatment solutions, has introduced POLYSTRONG™ and POLYLAST™, two corrosion-resistant, thermoplastic-based materials used in the equipment that it manufactures. They are poised to replace traditional fiberglass laminates that are subject to degradation wicking, porosity, and UV light penetration. The materials are ideal for degasifiers or aeration towers at municipal water treatment plants where NSF Certification is required. The materials are also suitable for design of wet scrubbers, dry scrubbers, biotrickling systems, exhaust fans, ducting, and many applications where corrosion resistance is required.

“POLYSTRONG™ and POLYLAST™ are essential alternatives for anyone who relies on traditional fiberglass materials for use in corrosion-resistant ventilation equipment,” said Kyle Hankinson, President of KCH. “We are extremely excited about the benefits these technologies will provide our customers.”

The materials have a degradation barrier that is at least 87% and up to 400% thicker than traditional fiberglass corrosion barriers, and they are resistant to high-temperature, wind, and UV degradation. Unlike traditional FRP laminates, POLYSTRONG™ and POLYLAST™ resist wicking and internal blistering, making them some of the most durable materials available.

KCH engineered POLYSTRONG™ and POLYLAST™ to be safe as well as sturdy. Both have been tested and approved by the National Sanitation Foundation and can be used in the construction of drinking water degasifier systems requiring NSF/ANSI 61-G certification. They are also opaque in nature and block 100% of ultraviolet light, mitigating photosynthetic bacteria growth inside of degasifiers and aerators. Traditional fiberglass materials are transparent in nature, allowing light to pass through, which can promote microbial growth to occur inside the vessels. The homogenous and smooth material characteristics of POLYSTRONG™ and POLYLAST™ eliminate pinhole porosity, which greatly reduces the potential for the biological breeding grounds.

Equipment built with POLYSTRONG™ material can be designed to maintain structural integrity at higher temperatures than traditional thermoplastics and withstand wind loads up to 150 miles per hour. While its standard corrosion barrier is 187 mils, barriers of up to 500 mils are also available. Its proprietary formula consists of a homogeneous thermoplastic corrosion barrier bonded to a thermoset plastic resin/fiber structural layer, and optionally coated with a UV-resistant external layer. Due to its excellent corrosion and chemical resistance, as well as increased thermal structural properties, POLYSTRONG™ can be evaluated in many applications as a suitable alternative to fiberglass, stainless steel, and other metal alloys.

POLYLAST™ is a lower-costing alternative to POLYSTRONG™. It consists of a homogeneous thermoplastic corrosion and structural barrier with a UV-resistant external coating.

KCH offers a broad range of corrosion-resistant technologies that include odor control systems, wet chemical scrubbers, dry scrubbers, mist eliminators, exhaust fans, ducts and hoods. Their capabilities include custom fabrication, engineering, installation, and maintenance of air pollution control and water treatment systems. Their headquarters is located in Forest City, NC, but they service businesses worldwide.
