Reflects DuPont Long-term Commitment to Nylon

Geneva (PRWEB) - DuPont Performance Polymers has increased production capacity of DuPont™ Zytel® PA 66 and PA 6 at its Uentrop facility in Hamm, Germany by 20 percent to meet growing demand primarily in the global automotive industry. Lightweight, high-performance Zytel® nylon often replaces metal in automotive components and is at the leading edge of industry efforts to improve fuel efficiency, lower CO2 emissions and enable sustainable mobility.

DuPont is the largest, most globally networked nylon manufacturer focused on the engineering polymers market, and Uentrop its largest nylon production facility in Europe.

“Nylon continues to be the starting point for many product designers because it’s versatile, easy to mold and offers exceptional long-term performance in the most challenging environments,” said Richard Mayo, global business director for the nylon businesses in DuPont Performance Polymers. “In many ways, nylon defined the category of Engineering Polymers and continues to redefine where plastics can go in the future.”

DuPont’s invention of nylon 66 in 1935 followed by the first sales as a fiber in 1940 laid the foundation for the polymer family that today is used to make a wide range of automotive components, such as air ducts, engine covers, charged air coolers, transmission components and radiator end tanks. In electrical and electronic systems, Zytel® nylon is widely used in enclosures, sockets, terminal blocks, circuit breakers, switches and relays.

“We continually work to optimize and refresh our nylon product line, delivering innovative materials and solutions to meet the needs of our customers and the markets they serve,” said Mayo. “It’s this attention to matching the portfolio to customer’s needs that has helped us build the world’s broadest portfolio of nylon products and continue to expand that offering.”

With a high focus on quality and product consistency, DuPont manufactures a full range of PA66, PA6, PPA and Long Chain Polyamide (LCPA) resins in Europe, the Americas and Asia. DuPont owns and operates world-scale, continuous-polymerization assets for nylon in all three regions of the world and operates compounding sites in 13 countries to ensure local supply wherever customers are located.

DuPont Performance Polymers works with customers throughout the world to help improve the performance, sustainability and cost of components used in automotive, aerospace, consumer electronics, health care, medical and other diversified industries. DuPont supports product development efforts with more than 40 manufacturing, development and research centers and technical teams to help ensure ideas go to market quickly and cost effectively.

DuPont (NYSE: DD) has been bringing world-class science and engineering to the global marketplace in the form of innovative products, materials, and services since 1802. The company believes that by collaborating with customers, governments, NGOs, and thought leaders we can help find solutions to such global challenges as providing enough healthy food for people everywhere, decreasing dependence on fossil fuels, and protecting life and the environment.
